Rest easy...don't know if others know more, but over the past five yrs my kids would come home with albums, things I thought were long lost, valuable as Gold sorts, and use them as gag gifts...they would tell me they could pick them up for pennies at used record stores and garage sales.

I have NO IDEA if well kept ones do better, but my thought is that the old (ie, 40 yrs of wear and tear) orig's are not worth much...

Anyone?

My guess is that very few old vinyl records are worth much.
Although I'm sure there are still plenty of collectors out there.
Some exceptions of course...i.e., old Beatles, Elvis etc.

For me, the old albums would be worth more for the covers than the actual music.
Sadly, album cover art, while waning from a high point in the sixties and early seventies, disappeared completely with the onset of CDs in the 80s.

Yep...I even have one of the multi-colored Dave Mason, Alone Together disks, and now find out it used to be worth something, but not so much now...? Dunno...

If I remember rightly the 2 Sunflower discs 'Vintage' and 'Historic' are valued quite highly as they are relatively scarce. They'd have to be in mint condition to fetch serious dosh though, and who looks after them that well ?

I have "historic", the blue/black one if I recall, safely (??) tucked away, where it probably experiences Southwest temps of, oh, 150F, but at least it never gets played, eh? Probably a black, melted lump at this point...just never fig'd that LP players would come back in fashion the way they seemed to have the past decade...? At least it seems I know quite a few folks that bought the newer ones...I still have my turntable, from 30 yrs ago, and the rec'ver to power it, but couldn't find a new needle when I got it out a dozen yrs or so ago...still played the ones I tried okay though.
